Graduation at the Guides Dogs
For The Blind Oregon Campus
is always an event worth attending.
The site, just east of Boring, is home
to returned dogs, ready for their harness
traing and a wonderful and dedicated staff.
People who qualify for dogs come for sessions
ranging from two weeks to a month and stay on
campus. Graduation is where the puppy raisers
and the graduates first meet and the day is filled
with testimonials and the graduation ceremony.
Bring tissue for the tears of joy and leave a changed person.
June 14, 2007 Puppy Truck
The Puppy Truck pulls into Tacoma
on a regular basis bringing new puppies
for raisers and picking up dogs to return
for harness training at the Boring, Oregon,
campus.
What better opportunity for photographs
than puppies, people and sunshine?
Vashon Festival Parade
Each year since 1898, Vashon Island has celebrated its heritage with a strawberry festival. Guide Dog Puppy
Raisers use the event to socialize their puppies and to
share the festival atmosphere with raisers from other
clubs in the territory. The parade always provides an
excellent opportunity to show off the puppies and answer
questions for possible future raisers.
King County Fair

King County 4-H members proudly exhibited
their dogs at the County Fair for two days. The Fair
gives Guide Dogs Puppy Raisers an excellent
opportunity to explain the program.
Fun Day on the Oregon Campus
Fun Day happens every August on both the
Oregon and the California Campus.
Fun Day always provides a wonderful opportunity
for littermate pictures and to exchange ideas
between clubs and leaders. This year retiring
Guide Dogs for the Blind CEO Bob Phillips
received an engraved black granite plaque
from Territory One Puppy Raisers to thank him
for his service to the organization.
Washington State Fair
The Annual Washington State Fair takes place each
year during September at the fairgrounds in Puyallup.
This year the Guide Dog Puppy Raisers were well
represented by the youth raisers enrolled in the
4-H program. The fair-going public likes to watch
the dogs work in the various classes and visiting
with puppies and raisers during their time on the bench.
Graduation October 2007

Graduation at the Boring, Oregon campus
is always a rewarding time. New guides and their partners
are getting ready to return to their homes and puppy raisers
get to meet the graduates. Campus tours introduce the
public to the Oregon program and puppy raisers get a
chance to visit with the dogs' new partners.
Dallas and Heidi's Harvest Fair Pictures
Dallas and Heidi sent along these pictures
from Harvest Fair 2007. In spite of the rainy
and gloomy weather, it was a great outing
for leaders, raisers and pups. Enjoy this
slide show and check the top of the page
for instructions about how to download any
of this site's pictures for your own printing.

Class number 142 graduated on November 17th, 2007
at the Guide Dogs For The Blind campus near Boring, Oregon.
Twelve graduates met with the puppy raisers before the
graduation and then enjoyed a full auditorium to help
celebrate the achievement. A record downpour outside
the building couldn't dampen the celebration inside and
the graduates and audience enjoyed andecdotes and
accolades throughout the afternoon.
Twenty Pups Come for Christmas

What could be more fun than 20 new
puppies for the holidays? The November
29th Puppy Truck visit to Tacoma
brought laughs, love and pups together
to kick off the holiday season. At least
three clubs welcomed three new
puppies each into their raising family.
Starter pups were placed to get ready
for transfers early in 2008.
Leader Christmas Party and Gift Exchange

The annual leader Christmas Party
and gift exchange is always fun.
White Elephant gifts provide entertainment
for the evening. This year's event was only
slightly marred by the absence of the
notorious Vashon Island Garden Gnomes.
They were unable to attend because of
a flood releated incident, but will make a
surprise appearance at a Guide Dog Puppy
Raiser event in the near future.
